The look is based on features of the “Drei???” corporate design. :
The characteristic colours black, white, red, blue are integrated into the 360° projections at harmonious points. The style of the visualizations is based on the illustrations of the audio play covers by Aiga Rasch/Silvia Christoph. The style is also based on the 1970s, as the original version of the story dates from this period.
In the fulldome visualizations, places of the plot are shown, so that the audience is part of the action and can experience the story immersively, e.g. when the three detectives ride the chain carousel, the round visualization turns and transforms itself in the dome, so that the spectators can also become slightly dizzy. The animations of the illustrations are adapted to the dramaturgy of the audio play. At certain points the movements appear in harmony with the auditory dynamics, at other points in contrast. Characters are not illustrated, but connected with abstract structures, for identification with the events. Important considerations of the detectives appear in individual typography and form an outline to the topic, which is unravelled.


In a small touring circus, the three detectives Peter, Bob and Justus investigate in their latest case: A sinister-looking man wants to take an ugly stuff cat by force, steals it and searches the next day via newspaper ad for more cats – There must there be something more behind it!
The case brings them into contact with various circus members, takes them to a lonely house on the coast, to a disused amusement park and gives them a boat trip on the high seas.
The new and extended version of the popular classic from 1971.

Content and Concept

Commissioned work for the opening of the award gala of the 12th FullDome Festival in Jena. The award of this festival is a Janus, because this double-headed deity has the privilege of seeing 360° films at a glance.

“Janus-Faced” is about the ability of the god Janus to unite duality.
Two dancers, and the fulldome projections interacting with them, embody two extremes that confront each other. These contrasts are reflected in the animation design and the
movements, as well as in the position of the dancers.
Opposites are strongly abstracted in order to avoid judgement. Both sides that Janus represents and unites are free from valuation. They’re neither good nor bad.
Round, colorful animations combined with flowing movements in dance oppose geometric black and white projections in combination with angular motion sequences and poses.
Both characters resemble each other on one side and are contrary on the other side.
Depending on the position, that the dancers have to each other, either the opposition seems stronger, or the aspects, which unite them. Both show a natural human face on one half, and also both wear black – one on the upper and one on the lower part of the body. The other side of the face and the body of each, is based on differences and designed individually, matching to the respective projections.
The performance is an interplay between antagonism, encounter and unity.

The design of the prize to be awarded is included in the projection: Parts of the trailer for the 12th Fulldome Festival are integrated (Modeled and Animated by Mohammad Jaradat with the Software Autodesk 3Ds Max) and matched to the choreography.

„Black Body Radiation“ is a multimedia Performance with dance and projections, inspired by Max Planck’s experiments to blackbody radiation.
Blackbodies are not only presented objectively in terms of physics but are as well understood subjectively as a metaphor for a delimited space in which photons, atoms, the mind and the human body act and interact – with other words: dance.
Abstract animated visualizations and recorded footage are complemented by electronic music.
With this hybrid language the production contributes to the interdisciplinary bridge between science and art.

„Kometentanz“ (Comet Dance) is an “astral pantomime” by Paul Scheerbart, written around 1900.
A king is bored with the entertaining dances of his court and the entire earthly world. He leaves his frustration on his subordinates. Instead, the king worships highly the cosmos. He sees in him all the positive.
However, when cosmic beings actually come to earth, the whole court is shocked at first. Soon after, everyone wants to join in the fascinating dances of the heavenly bodies and to ascend with them into the cosmic worlds. But the stars and comets refuse the king’s orders. The situation on earth escalates. Ultimately, three large comets prevent a multiple execution by kidnapping the king, the maid, and the executioner into space.
